Anambra State Government has banned the Tricycle Owners Association Operation of Nigeria (TOAN) popularly called ‘keke maruwa’ from operating in the state.
This was made known by the commissioner for transportation, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, in a statement in Akwa.
Okafor stated that the ban became necessary due to incessant negative complains about the activities of the tricycle owners in the state.

He warned that any person or group operating in the guise of tricycle operators would be dealt with.
“TOAN is strange to Anambra State Government, the group operate in disguise and in very negative circumstances.
“No union can exist without the consent of the government,’’ he said.
The commissioner urged security agencies in the state to ensure that TOAN and any other such unknown groups operating under the name ceased to exist in the state.
Information Nigeria recalls that in 2018, Governor Obiano banned commercial motorcycles from operating in two cities within the state.
