A COP dipped into his own pocket and bought a mum two car seats for her kids instead of giving her a ticket for them not having seatbelts on.
Kevin Zimmermann was on patrol in Milwaukee when he spotted a car with the wrong registration and when he pulled it over, he noticed there were kids inside.
Rather than give driver Andrella Jackson a ticket, he decided to take her to a Walmart but was called out on an emergency.
Undeterred he took her number and called her back later to get the weights of her kids to buy the right size car seats and after spending around £60 turned up to install them, reports WTMJ.
“I see three kids in the backseat and two are very young,” said Zimmermann.
“I didn’t observe any child restraints or even seat belts and I asked why the kids aren’t in car seats. She said, she can’t afford them at this time.
“I’m a father myself, I have three kids. I thought of my kids jumping around. What if a car hit them and they flew and got seriously hurt, if not killed?”
Jackson said she has been struggling financially recently was unable to register her car properly because of the cost.
“With bills coming up and winter coming up, I have to get coats and boots and shoes for my kids. So it was hard for me,” she said.
“Now, I’m able to finish getting coats. That saved me 70 something dollars on buying coats and hats and gloves.
“He’s awesome. I really love him. I really appreciate everything he did for me.”

The Milwaukee Police Department thanked Zimmerman for going “beyond your call of duty” in a post on social media.
“The officer observed that the children in the car were not properly restrained and took it upon himself to purchase two car seats for her,” said the department.
“Thank you Officer Zimmerman for going the extra mile and going above and beyond your call of duty.”
Modest Officer Zimmerman says he doesn’t want praise for what he did, simply saying: “I did it because I’m a parent and I want nothing to happen to these kids.”
