TWO sisters have been arrested for allegedly luring a pair of businessmen into an ambush where they were kidnapped and forced to pay £47,000 in ransom.
Gimena Solange,21 and her sister Macarena Agustina, 23, are said to be members of a gang with six men led by Gimena’s boyfriend ‘Topo’ Ojeda.
The arrests came after police in the province of Buenos Aires in eastern Argentina dismantled an alleged gang of kidnappers working in the municipalities of Paso del Rey, Merlo, Isidro Casanova, Longchamps and Villa Albertina.
Local media report investigators have found that one of the women approached a man on Pinamar beach in November 2018 and the pair soon started a relationship.
In March 2019, the couple agreed to meet at a bar in Ituzaingo along with the woman’s sister and one of the man’s businessmen friends, neither of whom have been named.
Reports state the four stayed in the bar for around two hours before one of the women asked to be driven home.
The four got into one of the men’s Volkswagen Amarok and drove to her house. Once there, the woman reportedly asked one of the men to come out of the car to kiss her goodbye.
However, when he stepped out of the vehicle a group of armed men appeared and locked him in the boot of the car.
The other man, still inside the vehicle, had a bag placed over his head and the gang demanded 2 million ARS (£36,780) from the men.
The two men reportedly said they did not have the amount in local currency but could provide $60,000 (£47,200) and they were taken to a flat in Puerto Madero to retrieve it, accompanied by the armed men.
After the money was handed over, the victims were released but the gang reportedly stole the vehicle, along with 40,000 ARS (£735) and mobile phones.
The victims reported the incident to the police and an investigation was launched.
