MORE than 2,200 foetuses have been found at the home of an abortion doctor who performed terminations on girls as young as ten.

Their medically preserved remains were discovered at the Illinois home of a former Indiana abortion clinic doctor, Dr Ulrich Klopfer, who died last week.

His family contacted the Coroner’s office on Thursday about possible foetal remains being found at the home, after they were going through the property.

According to media reports, the 75-year-old had carried out tens of thousands of abortions.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said authorities found 2,246 preserved foetal remains, but there’s no evidence medical procedures were performed at the doctor’s home.

The Coroner’s office have taken possession of the unborn babies, and an investigation is underway.

Dr Klopfer, who died September 3, was a longtime doctor at an abortion clinic in South Bend, Indiana. It closed after the state revoked his licence in 2015.

LICENCE SUSPENDED

The obstetrician-gynaecologist had been operating at the Women’s Pavilion, in South Bend, Indiana, as well as abortion clinics in Fort Wayne and Gary.

But his licence was suspended several years ago for failure to exercise reasonable patient care and violating multiple notice and documentation requirements, said the South Bend Tribune.

At a hearing in 2016, Dr Klopfer was given a minimum six-month suspension, reports the MailOnline.

He said that he had performed an abortion on a 10-year-old girl at an Illinois hospital after she had been raped by her uncle.

Her relative was never prosecuted as he didn’t report the abuse to cops, and her mum and dad – who were aware of the sexual assault – refused to take any action against him.

Dr Klopfer was found guilty of nine charges against him, including failure to report abortions carried out on two girls under the age of 14 within Indiana’s three-day timeline, as required by law.

He said at the time: “It’s a question about paperwork – it’s not a question about any medical malpractice or anything like that.”

The Mail says it’s not clear whether his licence was reinstated to continue carrying out abortions.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said that the doctor’s family is fully cooperating with the investigation into the foetal remains.
