A US cop shot a personal trainer in the chest after coming home to find the man talking to his wife, according to reports.
The sergeant, identified as Justin Ellis, 34, is reported to have confronted the unnamed 29-year-old after arriving home in Seaford, New York in the early hours of Friday morning.

A police source told the New York Post that Ellis “told the guy to get out of his house” before the trainer went to his car to get a bat.
It was at that point Ellis reportedly drew his gun and shot the man.
Both men were taken to hospital to be evaluated and treated.
The trainer is expected to recover.
The NYPD said Ellis, who works in the 103rd Precinct in the New York borough of Queens, had been stripped of his gun and badge and placed on modified duty.
Speaking for the personal trainer, lawyer Jason Russo disputed that his client had been inside the house when Ellis came home.
“He was never in the house and has never been in the house on any occasion,” Russo said,
He also claimed the shooting had taken place four houses away from where the initial confrontation had occurred.
“Ellis followed him and accosted him,” he said.
He clarified that his client does not work with Ellis’s wife as a personal trainer, but nor was their relationship romantic.
No charges have yet been filed over the incident, but Russo wants Ellis charged with attempted murder, DailyMail.com reported.
The Nassau County Police Department said they had attended the home after receiving reports of shots being fired.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Russo said his client has now been discharged from hospital and expects to speak with police over the weekend.
