A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy died after suffering 90 per cent burns to his body while trying to save his granddad from a sauna fire.
Slava Yushkov fought to pull his grandfather from the blaze in the garden of his family’s home in the Karelia region of western Russia.

The fire began after the man fell onto the furnace of the sauna, reports said.
When Slava was unable to drag him to safety, he retreated to the garden and screamed for his mother, Yulia Zakharkina, 30, who was inside cooking.
She ran outside but was unable to extinguish the fire, and Slava’s grandfather perished.
Slava was flown to a specialist burns unit, where his condition was described as “very grave”.
He was put into a medically-induced coma and on a lung ventilator, but died on September 9, ten days after the incident.
Slava, full name Svyatoslav, whose funeral is today, has been posthumously awarded Russian state’s Medal For Courage.
The award was given by Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Russian Investigative Committee and a close ally of Vladimir Putin.
“The feat and worthy deed of little Svyatoslav will forever remain in our memory and become a worthy example for the younger generation,” read the citation.
Created in 1938, the Medal for Courage is an award usually given to military personnel for personal courage and bravery in circumstances involving a risk to life.
A neighbour of the family said: “He showed incredible bravery.”
“Instead of running away he desperately tried to pull his burning grandpa from the flames, suffering dreadful burns in the process.”
