A COUPLE who bought the home that inspired the horror film The Conjuring claim the doors starting opening by themselves from day one.

Cory Heinzen, 40, and his wife Jennifer bought the infamous farmhouse in Rhode Island, which used to be owned by the Perron family.

The home was built in 1736, making it older than the US, and the Perrons and their five daughters lived there in the 1970s.

The 2013 horror blockbluster is based off the real-life story of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who arrive to help the family after they report disturbing experiences in their home.

Andrea Perron, the mum, has written a trilogy based on how whatever was in the home reportedly started out as friendly before taking a sinister turn and launching “physical attacks” and inflicting “mystery illnesses”.

Mr Heizen, who has been a paranormal investigator for about 10 years, refers to the spooky farmhouse as a “piece of paranormal history” like the Amityville house in New York.

He has explored some of the most reported haunted sites in the US, including Pennhurst Asylum and Waverly Hills Sanatorium.

The couple are currently renovating the home to preserve its history before opening it up to visitors and investigators later this year.

‘PARANORMAL HISTORY’

Mr Heizen told the Sun Journal: “We had doors opening, footsteps and knocks.

“I’ve had a hard time staying there by myself. I don’t have the feeling of anything evil, (but) it’s very busy.

“You can tell there’s a lot of things going on in the house.”

Mr and Mrs Heinzen saw the house was for sale on an online forum and jumped on it immediately.

He added: “We immediately fell in love with it.

“Eight-and-a-half acres, a river in the back and a pond, it’s so serene down there, never mind the story behind the house, it’s a beautiful home.

“[Jennifer] honestly was more excited than I was, I think.”

Mrs Warren died in April a long career in paranormal investigations with her husband.

One case which gave them worldwide acclaim was in Amityville, New York that later inspired the 1977 book The Amityville Horror.
