A BRITISH man has been arrested on suspicion of beating his 18-month-old daughter to death in the room of a five-star hotel in Kazakhstan.

The brutal attack is said to have occurred early on the Thursday morning of October 24th after the girl’s mother ran into the hotel lobby screaming for help.

Staff at the Intercontinental Hotel told Astana TV they heard a woman’s screams at about 7 in the morning.

The UK Foreign Office confirmed that it is in contact with Kazakhstan police after the man was detained in Almaty.

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: “We are in contact with the police in Kazakhstan following the death of a British child and the arrest of a British man in Almaty.”

A spokesman from the Almaty Police Department told local media outlet tengrinews.kz: “On October 26, the court sanctioned a measure of restraint in the form of detention for two months.

“A British citizen is suspected of committing a crime under paragraph 3 of part 2 of article 99 – Murder of a person known to be in a helpless state, as well as involving the abduction of a person or hostage taking.”

Aliya Dauletova, director of the hotel’s sales and marketing department, told local media: “The hotel staff provided the necessary first aid. The ambulance rendered resuscitation to the child, restored pulse and pressure, the child was hospitalized in the first city children’s hospital.

“We can’t give all the information, the information is confidential. Girl, she’s about a year old. We later found out that she died in the hospital.”

Ms Dauletova told The Mirror that the incident “happened in the guests’ room in the hotel”.

She added: “We’re not giving out any information about the individuals concerned.”

An autopsy is said to be underway to establish the exact cause of death.

The Sun Online has reached out to the hotel for comment.

Earlier this month, a one-month-old boy was left in a serious condition in Ukraine after allegedly being beaten by his own mother.

Baby Mykyta was discovered by neighbours in the western city of Rivne after his mother, 19, reportedly left him alone so she could go on a date.

A mum was recently accused of leaving her son, three, to die after her boyfriend beat him so badly his bowel was severed, a court has heard.

Riley Siswick was found dead two days after he was allegedly injured by Kyle Campbell, 26, at their Huddersfield home.
